Silver City, NM – A leadership program that provides professional development to support and inspire a new generation of leaders is acceptingapplications for the 2013 course.
The Southwest New Mexico Leadership Program (SWNMLP) will begin its fifth annual course January 17. Residents from Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, and Luna counties are encouraged to apply for the program.
Course participants will focus on key areas including identifying key leaders, enhancing community knowledge, developing and strengthening professional leadership skills, networking, understanding forces and trends affecting community development, communication and community involvement.
Participants are often sponsored by their employers or a non-profit organization. Scholarships to cover the $500 tuition may be available in cases of financial need.
Participation in the program is limited to 18 individuals each year. The program is open to emerging leaders who want to learn how tomake a difference in the workplace, current leaders seeking renewal and or expansion of their leadership skills, members of non-profit boards, high school juniors and seniors, and individuals seeking professional growth.
The four-month program consists of eight full day sessions at the Western New Mexico University campus in Silver City and locations inDeming and Lordsburg.
